A Long-expected Journey

The day has finally come, tomorrow our adventure begins. After one and a half year in the making, the expedition is finally beginning. Thomas came with the train this afternoon and we stopped by the shop to buy some last minute random supplies (read: Ice cream & clothes wash detergent).

We were served our last supper: Juicy duckling with mashed beet and potatoes. No pictures were taken due the fact that we were in a hurry to begin the devouring of the duck. Afterwards we were served homemade filled buns.

And by Thorin's beard were they delicious.

Of course before any great journey lies the tedious task of packing. Now, I always put off packing to the last minute, and a four month long journey should be no exception. Nonetheless i managed to scrape together the essentials and lay them out in an organized fashion. My inventory for the next four months laid out on a bed in front of me. Made me fully realize the minimalism we will face in the time ahead. Still, it made the trip even more real, so all in all it feels pretty great!

Nice! I still have to move the stuff when I go to bed though. Didn't think that one through.

We want to pack as lightly as possible and I will try to beat Thomas' score of 14kg of luggage. I will try the famous trick and take half of the stuff and leave it at home. Even so, I think I have gotten the essentials down and I feel pretty confident about my inventory. Will I still forget to bring something that is fairly important? Probably.

To say we are excited for tomorrow could actually be the understatement of the year, but we still got a couple more days left for those so I won't call it yet. Harry Potter on the TV gave us the last tastes of a comfy life and now the last night in my own, soft, comfy bed. Tomorrow we are leaving for, wait for it... Doha, Qatar.
